PIL on hi-tech corridor case dismissed
The Times of India
Banglore: Acting Chief Justice B Padmaraj and Justice V Jagannathan dismissed a PIL filed by the Electronic City Industries Association seeking a direction to authorities, including a single judge, to speedily dispose of disputes connected with acquisition of lands to construct a hi-tech corridor connecting the two IT hubs — ITPL and electronic city.
The petitioners contended that the IT Corridor Road length was about 34 km and presently went from Hoodi junction state highway to Marathahalli junction and thereafter through the outer ring road via Iblur Junction to Central Silk Board junction and thereafter on to Hosur Road. The distance was sought to be shortened by building a road corridor. This is the only road that connects the two IT hubs. The govt had given final notification but the work has not started because some land owners challenged the acquisition proceedings in the HC. Directive: On a plea that a park in Okalipuram was being encroached upon by some persons who had put up permanent structures here, the HC ordered the BMP commissioner to inspect the area and find out if there was a park according to the layout plan and give a status report regarding encroachments there. The petitioners alleged that some persons had put up temple and other structures on the Lakshman Rao Park.
