The City police has come up with a novel idea of keeping the complainants updated regarding the progress made in their cases every 30, 60 and 90 days, City Police Commissioner Ajai Kumar Singh said on Wednesday. He said it would be made mandatory for the inquiry officers in charge of the case to enter this interaction in the investigation progress report.

Outsourcing

Following a suggestion by one of the reporters, Mr Singh said he would contemplate setting up a call centre for the purpose and outsource this wing if required.

The station officers have been instructed to note down the phone numbers of the complainants in the FIRs to facilitate the feedback process, he added. The ACPs and the DCPs have been told to monitor the complainant update procedure. The ACPs of the respective sub-divisions will be holding a meeting of the complainants and the inquiry officers in charge of the complaint every first Sunday of a month and decide the future course of action, Mr Singh said.
