An awe-inspiring habba
An awe-inspiring habba

What exactly is Bangalore Habba all about? It seems like it’s just the Artists Walkway on MG Road. Talk to any individual who is checking out the stalls on the MG Road Boulevard and the answer would be “Oh I just know about this Walkway”.
With the Habba ingredients sprinkled across the City people seemed to be aware only of what is happening in their nearby areas. As such mixed reactions were obtained from people as regards the Habba.
If the youth seemed absorbed in what was being given to them in a care free manner, others differed. For instance, Jerardin D’souza, a consulting engineer, who was sitting near a podium where a street play was being performed, said that he was completely moved by the theme of the play. “Though I just sat here and listened to the play, I was impressed by the message,” he said, adding that the concept of people from various walks of life being seen together was unusal.
“Oh there are other things happening apart from this?” was his surprised reaction when apprised of other festivities.
According to Mrs Mona, a homemaker, “The previous year had much more to offer. The stalls are placed so far away from each other this year that it’s just a long tedious walk,” she added.
Rajendran T Govender, from South Africa who was passing by Bangalore City for a day, was so taken in by the Walkway concept that he wants to emulate this at his hometown in Africa.
For Aruna Raman, a Wipro employee, the idea of an array of events catering to all kinds of taste buds in remote corners of the City is quite appealing.
It’s magic here!
At the Magic Land in Cubbon Park where the magic wand rules in the evenings, things have been a big hit.
Vanishing handkerchiefs, flowers changing colours among others have been good entertainment for tiny tots, making the Habba a complete one for members of all ages.
And for some battle crazy individuals, the war game, Paintball, at Adventure Maze, Palace Grounds just drove them to hold guns at each other. Paintball is a game in which two teams wage a war against each other in order to capture the flag of the ‘enemy’ while defending their own.
“The game involves strategies to defeat the other team and it can be addictive. It was great playing the game,” said Naresh Sheshadri, who is into Corporate Training.
