Traffic jams in City

Traffic jams in City
Deccan Herald

With three dignitories visiting the city--President A P J Abdul Kalam, Indonesian President Dr Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Thailand Prince Vajiralongkorn--people were put to lot of difficulty following traffic restrictions on Monday.

Traffic moved very slowly on at least three important roads--Airport Road, Hosur Road and Malleswaram 13th cross--as Mr Kalam had used them for attending his engagements. The Indonesian President visited Electronic City in the evening.

Deccan Herald was flooded with calls from aggrieved commuters. Some employees of software firms in Electronic City said they were stranded in the premises for nearly three hours from 4.30 pm as company buses were not allowed to ply for security reasons. Ramesh, an employee of TTK Company, said “The VIP menace strikes the City every four days in a month. Every dignitary makes it a point to visit Electronic City and commuters along Hosur Road have to waste four to five hours to reach their destination. We’ll probably have to get our beds and settle down on the footpath every four VIP days in a month,” he added sarcastically.

However, the Traffic Police denied any major jam and claimed that they had taken steps to tackle the traffic diversions.
