BANGALORE: Tourists coming to the city can soon take in the city’s sights from the comfort of an air-conditioned bus. Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) is making arrangements to introduce a specially designed bus, which will have wide windows, and cameras to enable the driver to view the coach, besides objects behind the vehicle.

The bus, known as Cauvery, will have emergency exits on two sides of the bus, and also in the roof. The BMTC is yet to calculate the fare.

The bus currently operated by BMTC collects Rs 50 a person for a day-long trip that covers eight places. The tourist spots include the Isckon temple, Lalbagh, Cubbon Park, MG Road, Museum, Vidhana Soudha, High Court and Ulsoor.

Tourists can spend 30 minutes at each site. BMTC Managing Director Upendra Tripati says, “No city in the country has such a bus”.

A majority of tourists to Bangalore are from the North, and this bus has been introduced to attract them.
