BANGALORE: Sigma Mall, the city's latest shopping mall-cum-multiplex, was thrown open to the public on Friday. Positioned as a "Family Entertainment Destination," the mall has a total area of 2.35 lakh sq. ft. with parking space for 320 cars in three basements.

The place also features a four-screen multiplex, two restaurants and a food court with nine stalls, offering world cuisine, Chinese, Mughlai, North Indian, South Indian and more. Fifty per cent of the shopping space for 48 outlets are currently filled and the rest are expected to be occupied soon, according to the builders, IDEB Construction Projects (Private) Limited.

The multiplex, with a total seating capacity of 1,000, will be managed by Fun Republic, a Zee Group company.

Among the brands that have occupied space on the four-storeyed mall include Pantaloon, Provogue, Pepe and Allen Solly.

`Multiplexes a hit'

Speaking about the project, IDEB Managing Director Harkirat Singh Bedi said: "The reality is that multiplexes are already a hit with the Indian masses. Good housekeeping and a hygienic environment, market dynamics, good quality products and more choices tempt the consumers to opt for multiplexes."

IDEB's second mall would come up on the city's Outer Ring Road near Marathahalli by the end of next year, according to Mr. Bedi. To be built on an area of 5 lakh sq. ft., the mall would also have a four-screen multiplex.
