Karnataka Minister for Cooperation R V Deshpande today said that IT giant Infosys Technologies has not grabbed land but has brought international recognition to the State.

Referring to allegations about land grabbing against Infosys Chief Mentor N R Narayanamurthy by former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) President H D Deve Gowda, he said the allegations may be due to communication gap and the difference of opinion can be resolved through discussion.

''Infosys has carved a niche for Karnataka in the world of IT and has not grabbed land in the City as alleged by Mr Gowda,'' Mr Deshpande told newsmen before attending the 83rd General Council meeting of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) here.

''The communication gap between Mr Gowda, Chief Minister Dharam Singh and also with Mr Narayanamurthy has led to unnecessary controversy. The issue can be resolved through mutual discussion'', he added.

He said Infosys headquarters in the city was being visited by many dignitaries from various countries and head of the States and it is a matter of pride for everybody and one has to compliment Mr Narayanamurthy for this achievement.
