BANGALORE: The South Western Railway (SWR) has proposed that Rail over Bridges (RoBs) be constructed across 12 level crossings that witness heavy vehicular traffic in the city.

Divisional Railway Manager Mahesh Kumar told reporters that discussions had already taken place between the Railways and the State Government.

“Such projects are executed on a 50:50 basis. The State Government has agreed in-principle. Once they are finalised in the next railway and City Corporation budget, work can start.”

Among the busy level crossings that have been identified are Yeswanthpur, Kadugodi, Cox Town, Mathikere, Lottegolahalli and other places.

Work on the Kadugodi RoB, which had been stalled due to non-payment by the State PWD has been taken up once again.

All the problems have been sorted out now.

This RoB was not a 50:50 venture but one taken up wholly by the PWD. It is expected to be completed in the next 18 months.
