BANGALORE, JAN. 6. Residents of Yediyur in the Jayanagar Assembly constituency on Thursday expressed displeasure over the delay in the restoration of Yediyur Lake by the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP).

They complained to Ramalinga Reddy, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education, that though restoration work started two years ago, it was yet to be completed.

The Minister went around Yediyur and surrounding areas and heard the people's grievances.

Responding to the residents' plea, he said he would direct the BMP officials to expedite the pending work.

"I will ask the BMP Commissioner, K. Jothiramalingam, to visit the lake site on Monday. I will also be there and let us discuss all your problems then," he said.

The BMP took up the project at a cost of Rs. 3.25 crores. But the contractors stopped work half work through.

After the former Mayor, P.R. Ramesh, inspected the area and gave a direction to the engineers, the work resumed. But it has not been completed.

Mr. Ramalinga Reddy went around several areas in Jayanagar 6th Block and Jayanagar 7th Block.

He also inspected work on the Yediyur Government School building.

The Minister will inspect Jayanagar 4th Block, Nakala Bande Slum, Swagath Slum, Tilaknagar, Byrasandra, Kaveri Slum, Jayanagar Swimming Pool and neighbouring areas on Friday.
