New layout work going on briskly: BDA

BANGALORE, JAN. 5. The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has said that the Arkavathy Layout formation work is going on at a brisk pace and that allotments will be made to eligible applicants waiting for several months, on January 15, as promised by it.
The BDA has also said it will take action against unauthorised layouts in areas falling in its jurisdiction.
"Many doubts, misconceptions and apprehensions about Arkavathy Layout have been reported and these have no factual basis,'' the BDA officials have said. The eligible allottees will be given their site number, road and cross number details on the day of allotment.
Roads, storm water drains and culverts will be formed, the sites will be numbered and road numbers too given soon. The allottees have to pay the complete site cost within three months after receiving the allotment intimation.
On unauthorised layouts, the BDA has said any private layout formed in an area in its jurisdiction should have sanction before it takes up any development activity there.
"Otherwise such unauthorised layouts must be prepared to face consequences such as acquisition, dismantling of built structures and no compensation,'' the BDA officials have said.
There have been a spate of protests by residents living in areas taken over by the BDA and this clarification comes in this connection. "Time and again the BDA has cautioned the people against buying property in such unauthorised layouts,'' the officials said.
Another point was the BDA has not de-notified even an acre of land of the 2,750 acres notified for Arkavathy Layout. The BDA will settle all compensation claims within 48 hours after all the required documents are produced by the owner to the land acquisition officer.
The Authority has so far not demolished or issued notices for demolition to any dwelling house built before notification or afterwards, they explained.
Together with the Revenue Department, the BDA has made arrangements for on-the-spot issue of necessary documents to claim compensation and handbills have been distributed in the notified areas, the officials have said.
"We will address the issue of litigation and that problem will be taken care at the earliest,'' they added.
