NEW DELHI, JAN. 5. The N. Dharam Singh-led coalition Government has decided to seek Central funds on the lines of those promised to Mumbai for development of Bangalore city, which, it has claimed, is the fastest growing metropolis in the country.

The Chief Minister said here today that he and the Deputy Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, had a meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, Montek Singh Ahluwalia, on the plan outlay for the State. The Chief Minister said he would return here on January 19 for formal discussion with the commission.

"Bangalore is the fastest growing city with Information Technology and Biotechnology being in focus. We need extra assistance,'' Mr. Dharam Singh told presspersons. He said when the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, went to Mumbai he had mentioned about assistance for the city. "We too have peculiar problems and will prepare a project report for the Centre when we return,'' he said and added that his Government would take up the matter with the Prime Minister.
