Yawn! How many times have we heard this before?

Grade separators to be completed soon
The Times of India

The delay in construction of two grade separators by the Bangalore City Corporation (BCC), one at National College and another at Modi Hospital junction has drawn much flak in the recent days. However, BCC's Engineer-inchief Rame Gowda said that both the grade separators will be ready by September.

The work on the National College flyover began in September 2003. The flyover is being constructed at a cost of Rs 16.94 crores. The total length of the flyover will be 408.60 metres while the width will be 16.80 metres with a median of 0.80 metres. There will be no arms on the flyover.

The flyover being built across Vani Vilas Road commences from the Dr D V Gundappa Road Junction and ends at the Vasavi Vidhya Niketan School Road Junction. This project has been designed considering the intensity of traffic, he said.

The Modi Hospital underpass, one of the crucial junctions along the West of Chord Road, will facilitate crossover for vehicles towards Basaveshwara Nagar, Mahalakshmi Layout, and Nandini Layout on one side, and Rajajinagar, Malleshwaram and surrounding areas on the other side. After completion, vehicles plying on Chord Road can cross this junction without any interruption. The project is being undertaken at a cost of Rs 14 crores.
