B’loreans prepare for early winter

B’loreans prepare for early winter

With the mercury dipping over the last couple of weeks, most people in the City are of the opinion that winter has set in earlier than usual. Bangaloreans have begun to blow the dust off last year’s sweaters and scarves, keeping a nervous eye on the thermometer.

But, going by what officials at the Meteorological Department say, winter has come right on schedule. Dr A L Koppar, the director of the Meteorological Department, thinks that winter has begun at the right time. He remarks: “The temperature, at 15 degree celsius, is normal and rather pleasant.” The City will have normal temperature “occasionally broken by cold conditions.” Winter, as is usual, will peak in the month of January, before the temperatures start off on a slow upward climb, said Dr Koppar.

As of now, the temperature stands at an average of about 27 degree celsius during the day and at night, drops to 15 degrees celsius. This, says Dr Koppar, is normal. “There is a variation of 12 degrees between day and night. This is no significant fluctuation at all,” he explains.

As for rain, Dr Koppar says that it will be the first week of February before we can expect some rainfall. It might be rather chilly this season, but it certainly won’t be wet.
