The Bangalore City police has plans to implement a new system of display in all autorickshaws plying in the City.

The concept of the new display system was accepted by Bangalore City police Commissioner, S Mariswamy when it was mooted by the Adarsh Auto and Taxi Association during its celebration of Kannada Rajyotsava in Bangalore on Thursday.

The display system will contain a copy of the driver’s license, his address and other details. The system will be enforced in every autorickshaw plying in the city. The president of the Association, M Manjunath suggested that the display system will help the passenger to lodge complaint to the police in case of any misbehaviour or to identify the driver was who ferrying them around.
Mr Manjunath said that he had come across this system in countries like Singapore.

Speaking to Deccan Herald on Friday Mr Mariswamy said that the system will help the passengers identify the person driving the autorickshaw and make a note of it. Mr S Mariswamy said that around 76,000 autorickshaws were plying in the City and double the number of drivers. In case of a complaint it was difficult to identify the driver he said. Such display system would be of a great help in solving many crime cases, he added.
