ABIDe-BBMP Meeting Results In New Projects Such As ‘Urban Bhoomi’, Waste Management, Internal Audit

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Bangalore: Very soon, there will be BBMP One centres across the city. These eight centres — one in each ward — will be one-stop service-delivery points for citizens.
This apart, a joint ABIDe-BBMP meeting Thursday launched a few other initiatives.
According to ABIDe sources, the hierarchy of BBMP operations will also be restructured and made identical with the assembly. Further, the Palike will publish a detailed GIS map of the newly constituted wards at street-levels along with inputs from the urban DC’s office.
Other initiatives in the pipeline
A quarterly health bulletin by health officials on issues affecting the city
Implementation of an ‘urban bhoomi’ project to create fully digitized land records management system for Bangalore
Pilot ‘waste segregation at source’ project in a few areas, to begin development of city’s strategy for waste management in an improved way. This effort will also include an awareness programme to encourage citizens for voluntary participation.
Develop an internal audit programme, where officials within the organization will monitor the performance of different departments and their compliance with high norms of governance. The programme will also accept citizen inputs and complaints on specific issues, and be linked to the Palike’s grievance-redressal programme.
Birth certificates will be issued online, making it much easier for people to obtain documentation about birth of their children
Get to know heritage monuments
Bangalore will soon have a heritage register, listing all its heritage monuments. The suggestion on developing prototype heritage conservation plans — for physical infrastructure as well as promotional material — at four locations in Bangalore has also been agreed upon.
This apart, Bengaluru Heritage Day will be known as Kempegowda Jayanti. ABIDe had proposed that the Museum of Bengaluru be established at Mayo Hall, but a decision on this was deferred.
However, it was agreed that the museum should be located in a building of historical importance.
