BANGALORE: The city received moderate rain on Thursday, causing traffic congestions and tree falls. According to the meteorological department, the city received 5.2 mm rainfall.
Eight trees fell in Jayanagar, JP Nagar and Koramangala during the rain. On Okalipuram Main Road, a tree fell on a bus, but no injuries were reported.
Low-lying areas were affected by water-logging, interrupting traffic.
Power supply was interrupted in Kodihalli, Koramangala and Gottigere, Bescom officials said.
On Swimming Pool Road near Ulsoor Lake, a tree fell on seven to eight BESCOM poles, causing power interruption and traffic congestion.
Commuters had to avoid the road and take an alternative route.
Bescom officials told Express that the power to streetlights had been disrupted and would be restored by morning since the poles had to be reerected.
Domestic consumers were not affected, said a Bescom official. “We will help from our end. But the BBMP needs to work on the poles,” he said.
