Bangalore: In an unusual incident, a one-and-a-half-foot marsh crocodile was sighted near Lumbini Gardens in the Nagavara lake near Hebbal here on Tuesday morning. The crocodile was found stuck in a fisherman’s net and after a rescue operation, it was sent to the Bannerghatta National Park.

According to the sources of the BBMP, some members of the public, who came to the amusement park, noticed the crocodile and alerted the management of Lumbini Gardens. The amusement park authorities alerted the BBMP officials, who rushed to the spot and caught the crocodile. The officials caught the crocodile and sent it to the Bannerghatta National Park.

The people from other amusement parks in the city might have left the crocodile for business rivalry, said an officer of the Lumbini Gardens.

However, officials of BBMP wondered how the crocodile had entered the lake.

“We will conduct an inquiry into the issue. It is not clear that how this marsh crocodile entered the lake. We released the crocodile in a lake in Bannerghatta National Park,” said an officer of BBMP.
