BANGALORE: Easing traffic, improving gardens, more borewells, four new hospitals. These are just some of the projects in the Rs 800-cr blueprint the Chief Minister has asked the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) to prepare for the city at the earliest.
The projects will be taken up in the fiscal 2009-10 and will be in addition to the work worth Rs 700 crore already in progress since 2008- 09.
Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, reviewing the progress of development work taken up by the BDA, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and the Water Board in the city at a meeting of officials on Wednesday instructed them to sink 1,000 borewells immediately on a war footing in areas newly included under BBMP to meet the drinking water needs in those areas.
``It is already May and these new borewells should be immediately fixed with pumps so that there is not shortage of potable water,’’ he instructed.
Bangalore will have four additional specialty hospitals like Victoria in four places around the city. This proposal is to ensure people in peripheral areas have easy access to health care and don’t have to rush to the heart of the city even in emergencies. He asked the BDA officials to reserve suitable land to set up these four hospitals.
He instructed the officials to change the design of some of the proposed underpasses since the present designs ``were not proper’
