Bangalore: Work on Namma Metro in the heart of the city will gain momentum soon, with BMRC set to put up girders along piers on the M G Road stretch.
The good news is that bustling Brigade Road will not be completely shut down during the girder work, confirmed the traffic police.
“BMRC officials have approached us about the Metro work, but we have not yet decided on traffic diversions to be put in place. No road, including Brigade Road, will be completely shut down during for Metro work on M G Road,” additional commissioner of police (traffic) Praveen Sood said.
“When the work reaches Cauvery Emporium junction, we may have to stop vehicle movement from Kamaraj Road directly towards Brigade Road. But then one can go to Brigade Road by taking right from M G Road. Nothing is concrete yet, and we will sit together to decide the diversion and other plans,” he explained.
The last three piers are coming up from Trinity Circle towards Ulsoor police station. Out of 209 piers planned from Byappanahalli to Chinnaswamy cricket stadium, nearly 61 are on M G Road.
Almost 59 piers have been erected from Trinity Circle to Anil Kumble Circle.
