Parking ban hits motorists

Parking ban hits motorists

Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The visit for many motorists to Commercial Street was not pleasant on Saturday as they had to cough up fine for parking their cars on the side of Kamaraj Road.

The reason was the absence of parking space as a result of Army prohibiting parking on the Western side of Kamaraj Road (in front of the Army Public School).

Many motorists had parked their cars on either side of the Kamaraj Road as there was no space on the small portion of Road where parking had been permitted. This affected the flow of traffic on the Kamaraj Road.

The traffic police had a hard time in towing away the cars.

“We will book cases against all the vehicles parked on the main road,” said a police officer engaged in clearing the vehicles parked on the Kamaraj Road.

Confusion
What has added to the misery of the motorists is the presence of “parking” as well as “no-parking” sign boards on Kamaraj Road. “I parked the vehicle seeing this new sign board. But the police tells me that this is no-parking area showing me the old sign board,” said M. Madhusudhan, a taxi driver.

The Defence authorities, who had banned the parking on the land belonging to them as the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike and other civic agencies failed to maintain the area, on Saturday made it clear that they would close other parking area in front of the school if they did not get response from the civic authorities.
