Capt Gopinath is committed to the Save Lalbagh campaign. He now plans to gather residents again outside Lalbagh today (Saturday). "We will let you know the time," he said.
Despite the absence of Capt Gopinath and other candidates in the poll fray, the 100-odd citizens made quite a show of their ire against the Metro.
Lunging around posters, a portable loud-speaker and lots of candles, they stood determined and patient during the designated hour, between 6 and 7pm.
The numbers didn't matter as the air was filled with pro-Lalbagh-and-anti-Metro slogans. Despite being overshadowed by a bigger rally nearby, young protesters felt it would have been "a great boost to the (green) cause, if Rahul had visited us".
While Gen-X was busy shouting slogans and holding candles as the lights dimmed, Rahul passed by, unaware of the brewing storm that was impacting the city's youth.
