Mercury soars to 37 degree in City
Bangalore, dhns:

It was one of the hottest days of the season with the mercury soaring to 37 degrees in the city, for the second time over the last decade.

With no sign of the monsoon and no upper air cyclonic system noticed anywhere in the coastal regions, the temperature continued to soar.

“On April 18, 2004, we had recorded 37 degrees and today the mercury touched the same mark (37 degree). It is the highest temperature in the last ten years,” according to sources in the Bangalore Meteorological Centre.

For the past one week, the weather has not shown any respite to Bangaloreans. The minimum temperature too touched 22 degrees. As there are very few clouds, the weather is expected to continue the same way during the next 24 hours. Heatwaves were reported in rural areas in the outskirts of the City.

People in Bangalore were seen moving around the city covering their heads and faces after a long time. It was hey day for some businessmen though, as cool drinks, mineral water bottles and tender coconuts were much in demand.
