Underpasses will be ready for smooth flow of traffic

Motorists can enjoy smooth drive from Vidhana Soudha to Hebbal in 20 days when the underpasses at Seshadri Road (Mahanrani College junction) and Sanjayanagar junction will be ready.
The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will convert the present Basaveshwara Circle junction near Chalukya Hotel to a Yield junction to ensure motorists seamless traffic movement to Hebbal and also to Bengaluru International Airport (BIA).
"The Maharani College junction vehicle underpass will ease traffic at Seshadri Road. The vehicular density is heavy here. More than 40% of the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation buses, which operate from Majestic bus stand, use it. But the underpass will help reduce traffic woes to a large extent," said assistant executive engineer for major roads, Ramakanth Desai.
"The work for the underpass began on March 14. A total of 44 magic boxes were used. The huge rock encountered on the way caused some delay in work but since we were prepared for this, it went on smoothly," he said.
The Sanjayanagar junction underpass too was delayed as there were no service roads for the vehicles.
"But the work is progressing well. This will help in the free flow of vehicles to Majestic from Sanjayanagar," he said.
In addition to this, the road widening work from Anandrao Circle to KR Circle, that was completed recently, will further ease traffic.
The BBMP is constructing a pedestrian subway in front of the SJP Polytechnic College on Seshadri road.
The staircase work is going on. It will be completed in a few days. This will help the pedestrians, including students, to cross the road easily
