The magic box atMaharani College Junction has been partially completed and is ready for use by the public, according to BBMP officials. But traffic police say the underpass should be opened to public and traffic allowed only after the work is complete. Movement of traffic on Palace Road and Seshadri Road will be allowed after holding a meeting with BBMP’s senior authorities, said chief engineer Chikkarayappa.
The approach ramps on all four sides — two each on Palace Road and Seshadri Road — have been completed. The BSNL has to complete work on shifting cables.

Work on the underpass was taken up on March 14 at a cost of Rs 4.5 crore.

A detailed traffic survey has been conducted on Palace Road and it will be made a two-way from Mysore Bank Circle to Chalukya Hotel. The survey has been found feasible. Work on the underpass was delayed after hard rock was found at the site. The rocks were blown up using mild blast technology, he said.
