BANGALORE: The latest to fall victim to the BMTC buses’ rash run was a constable, Vasantha.
Twenty-four-year old Vasantha, a constable with the Vidhana Soudha's security division lost his life after coming under the BMTC bus he was trying to board.
While heading for work on Monday morning, Vasantha is said to have been waiting at SJP bus stop opposite Yellamma Dassamma hospital near Town hall. As the bus was crowded and people rushed inside, the BMTC bus driver is said to have moved the bus.
As a result, four of the passengers have fallen down including the constable Vasantha.
As the bus continued to move ahead, the others managed to escape, but Vasantha died of severe head injuries. A case was registered at Ulsoor gate police station and the driver was arrested.
Vasantha was with the police department for the past three years and had come to the city for a living from Davangere.He was residing with his friend renting a rtoom at Rajarajeshwarinagar.
The incident has occured while he was heading towards work.
Technical glitch makes bus go awry
A BMTC bus hit a car, then an electric pole and a compound of a house, when the driver lost control over the vehicle due to break failure, in Hanumanthanagar on Monday.
The bus was heading from Srinagar towards BMTC depot in Katriguppe for repair work, when the incident took place. No casualties were reported, thanks to the sharp reflexes of the driver, police said. Basavanagudi traffic police are investigating.
Overtaking bus runs over man
A 41-year-old assistant manager of a private company was run over by a speeding bus at Garebhavipalya on Monday afternoon. The victim has been identified as Vinod Kumar, of Bidar. He was said to have been heading towards his office at Electronic city from his residence in BTM Layout on his bike.
The BMTC bus which was trying to overtake Vinod’s two-wheeler hit him from behind claiming his life. A case has been registered at Madiwala police station and the BMTC bus driver Mahesh has been arrested.
