BJP repacks Rahul's dream plan for city

Hemanth Kumar. Bangalore

Two days after Rahul Gandhi sold a Rs 11,000-crore dream to Bangalore, the BJP has come out with its own three-year action plan for the city to counter the Congress party's promises.
The BJP plan, aimed at "making Bangalore a model metropolis in India," promises a 5,000MW power plant for the city, a more affordable integrated public transport system, a traffic management system that will rid the city of traffic jams and 24/7 water supply. In keeping with Bangalore's IT-friendly character, the party has promised wi-fi connectivity to all, an e-governance interface for government agencies and total computerisation of land records.
'The Namma Bengaluru Action Plan,' as the BJP calls it, was unveiled by Ananth Kumar who is contesting against the Congress' Krishna Byregowda in Bangalore South. Rahul had made his promise to Bangalore at a rally at the National College Grounds on Friday in the same constituency.
Kumar said the location of the power plant and whether it would be a hydel or a coal-based thermal plant would be decided with the help of experts. He added the BJP would create a unified planning structure for the Bangalore Metropolitan region, streamline tax collection procedures and earmark funds for the urban poor.
