Bangalore: Namma Metro will now go north-south. While soil testing is on at R V Road in South Bangalore, the state government has notified properties for acquisition along the North-South corridor where Metro Rail work has commenced.
The industries and commerce department, which issued preliminary notification for acquisition of 304 properties over 1,54,431 sq m on January 31 under the KIADB Act, identified properties in Peenya and Dasarahalli under Bangalore North taluk, R V Road, Kanakapura main road up to Jaraganahalli.
As many as 59 properties (partly or wholly) over an area of 43,562.958 sq m in Peenya, 178 properties over 78,303.04 sq m in Dasarahalli and 67 properties from R V Road to Jaraganahalli over 32,567.435 sq m have been notified.
The North-South corridor, originally 14.9 km, has been extended to 24.2 km. The approval for this extension at a total cost of Rs 1,763 crore came through recently from state and Union governments. It’s from Yeshwanthpur to Hesarghatta Cross on the northern corridor covering 5.6 km with six elevated stations at Rs 1,082 crore; R V Road terminal to Puttenahalli Cross on the southern corridor covering 3.7 km with three elevated stations at Rs 681 crore. “The preliminary notification is out and individual notices sent to property owners. They’ve been given time to respond. We do not see a major problem as the BMRC rehabilitation package is good,’’ officials said. The notification directs owners not to transact the notified properties or carry out upgradation.
While work on Reach One (7-km stretch from Byappanahalli to cricket stadium) has been delayed, BMRC terminated the services of the contractor.
