Bangalore: The city, which desperately needs to rejuvenate and build additional urban infrastructure, will get a helping hand from the Centre towards that end under Jawaharlal National Urban Renewal Mission.
For the year 2009-10, an allocation of Rs 11,842 crore for this programme has been made. Of the 53 projects approved for Bangalore and Mysore under the scheme, the city has sent 20 projects to the GOI for funding this year.
The authorities had drawn up 53 projects pertaining to urban infrastructure, governance and services to the urban poor and water supply at a cost of Rs 4,350 crore. Bangalore and Mysore cities are among the 63 cities all over the country chosen for the project.
