The past few Railway Budgets have been disappointing to the people of the state.
The Railway Ministry has ignored the demands for the introduction of new trains, regularisation of the existing special trains and extension of the existing trains. According to the Co-Chairman Tourism and Infrastructure FKCCI Prakash Mandoth the people of the state have been requesting the Railway Ministry to sanction the following requirements of the state.
Regularise Bangalore-Hubli Kurkure Express.
New day train from Bangalore to Tirupati to meet traffic, as the existing trains in between Bangalore and Tirupati are running full.
Regularise Yeshwantpur – Mysore special.
One new train from Bangalore to Shimoga.
Introduce one new train from Mysore to Bijapur via Bangalore and Hubli.
Introduction of a passenger train from Hubli to Pandrapur via Gadag and Bijapur.
Introduction of a fast passenger train from Hubli to Bidar and one fast passenger train from Shimoga to Hospet.
Extension of the train No 214 Mysore –Tirupati train from Mysore to Chamarajnagar.
Train No 6515 Yeshwantpur – Mangalore day train to be extended to Karwar.
Introduce one new super fast train from Bangalore City Railway Station to Mumbai on the lines of Garib Rath. At present the trains that are plying in between Bangalore and Mumbai take 24 reach Mumbai. A super fast train will help to reduce the travelling time by 6 hours.
Introduce one new train to Manmad from Yeshwanthpur as the pilgrims travelling from the city to Shiridi have increased manifold.
Regularise train No 2429/2430 Rajadhani Express from Bangalore city to Nizamuddin.
The people of the state have been requesting for some of the above-mentioned trains from the past seven years. There has been 14 per cent increase in the passenger earnings from the state. It needs to be seen if the Railway minister will satisfy the demands of the people of the state at least in this budget.
