Mutalik says no knots will be tied by Sene on V-Day; chaddi activists drop idea of a collection centre

It seems the pink knicker trick has worked. On Wednesday, Sri Ram Sene chief Pramod Mutalik, the man who promised to marry off couples caught together on Valentine's Day, asked his moral brigade to keep off city streets on February 14.
"I have told my people that they should not take out any procession or hold demonstrations or accost young couples on the day," he said.
"We will not force couples to get married or tie rakhis either. I have instructed my workers not to trouble them but only advice them to get married to honour their love," Mutalik told DNA.
He added that his outfit was against violence of any nature and that the 'marrying off' threat was just a way of creating awareness among youngsters. "Our aim was to create awareness about such celebrations," Mutalik said.
courier Chaddi directly to mutalik
The 'pink chaddi' campaigners, meanwhile, have given up the idea of having a collection centre in Bangalore after the Alternative Law Forum, whose office address they had given on their blog, expressed its inability to keep a collection box and make other arrangements.
Speaking to DNA, Benson, one of the contact persons for the initiative, said that they had to shut down the collection centres due to logistical issues. "We have so many people sending us chaddis that we had to close down the collection centres," he said.
The campaigners have now asked Bangaloreans to courier the piece of undergarment directly to Mutalik at Sri Rama Sene's office address at Hubli.
When asked about the number of undergarments they have managed to get till now, he said that it should be around 1,000.
"I don't have exact figures because it is being collected all over the country," he said.
