Bangalore: A barricade of Namma Metro crashed down on Old Madras Road on Thursday, damaging a car.
Arvin Benjamin, a resident of HAL Officers’ Enclave, was travelling at 4.40 pm when the barricade fell on his car.
The right side of the car was damaged and glasses were broken.
The driver escaped unhurt. Dileep Benjamin, father of Arvin, alleged that Metro work was being carried out shoddily, resulting in the incident. He urged the authorities to be extra cautious.
Not the first time
On December 15, a crane being used for earthworks on the road toppled on to the footpath, leading to protests from residents and traders. There were however, no injuries.
The incident happened at 8 pm, when the crane driver reportedly lost balance, toppling it on CMH Road. The crane fell on the footpath, smashing the barricade and almost reaching the entrance of a hotel.
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) and contractors were urged to adopt better safety standards while undertaking the work.
