Pay your traffic penalty online

Pay your traffic penalty online
By Nandini Chandrashekar, DH News Service, Bangalore:
Traffic violators, beware! The Traffic police is tightening its noose around those who do not pay fine for traffic violation by introducing online payment facility shortly.

The police is also issuing bailable warrants against 250 traffic violators for not responding to notices to appear in court.

Fines for traffic violations can be paid at select traffic police stations and also at all the BangaloreOne centres. In less than a fortnight, fines can be paid at the Bangalore One online portal and also at the Bangalore Traffic Police website.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Praveen Sood told Deccan Herald that trials have already been completed for introducing payment at the BangaloreOne portal (www.bangaloreone.gov.in) using a credit card.
www.bangaloretrafficpolice.gov.in offers the same facility after the trails are complete, he added.
The payment facility at the BangaloreOne centres has proved to be a popular option and the intent behind introducing the online payment facility, is also to make it convenient to pay the fines anytime, anywhere.
Sood also said, “We are also introducing a facility on our website, where a person can enter a vehicle number and know whether there are any challans pending against that number. This will be very useful for buyers of used vehicles, who would otherwise not be informed of it. We are also introducing the same thing via SMS, where we will give a phone number and anyone wishing to check violations can do so.”

Bailable warrants

The Department is also embarking on an exhaustive round up of offenders who have not responded to traffic violation notices. About 250 bailable warrants are being issued to these violators.

The Additional Commissioner warned non-bailable warrants to those who did not respond to these warrants.
These notices have been issued to those mostly caught for drunk driving, but will eventually be extended to those caught flouting rules on the 80 surveillance cameras installed at major junctions in the city.
