The Outer Ring Road Companies Association (ORRCA) representing around 15 IT companies plans to beautify and maintain the outer ring road.

It intends to have lawns and waterfalls at junctions and plant saplings along the road and at the medians with the help of environment experts like M. N. Srihari and A.N. Yellappa Reddy.

The association held a meeting with BDA officials on infrastructure development on the ORR, where leading IT companies including AOL, Accenture and Symphony are located before chalking out its plan. The annual expenditure on maintenance of the road has been estimated at Rs 5 lakh.

The ORRCA has engaged as many as 30 security personnel from Guradwell to work in two shifts to mann the road and the traffic at its busy junctions. A control room at Belandur will oversee the work, says the manager of AOL and general secretary of ORRCA S. Viswanath .

“The control room has been equipped with master walkie-talkies and a hotline number 080-41504385 to receive complaints on. It will also have first aid equipment to attend to accidents on the ORR,” he said.

To begin with the security personnel will be posted over 9 kms from Marathahalli Circle to the BDA complex at HSR Layout. The guards will work in two shifts, with 15 members in each. Four security guards and a supervisor in each shift have been trained to give first aid to accident victims and shift them to nearby hospitals.

The first shift will be from 7 am to 3 pm while the second will be from 3 pm to 10 pm. The guards will be paid by the ORRCA.

On weekends the guards will beautify the ORR on the lines of the work done near the Dairy Circle Flyover.
