‘ ‘ The Yeshwanthpur flyover ‘ is an example of poor planning and poor execution of work
The Yeshwanthpur flyover may be of great advantage once built, but currently the huge metal sheets meant for use in its construction are proving a nuisance at the Yeshwanthpur junction. The sheets are blocking the junction, forcing pedestrians and vehicles to take a detour to reach the other end of the road.

As the junction is very busy pedestrians wait endlessly to cross it, as heavy vehicles go past, adding to the congestion in the area.

Most have a bad word for the BBMP as they dwell on the traffic trouble in the area, which has bothered them for nearly two years. Senior citizens and school children have been worst affected, they say.

“Due to the ongoing flyover work, buses and trucks are forced to take a ‘U’ turn at Maramma Circle while school children need to walk an extra 500 meters to reach the other side of the road,” people complain.

“The project has been planned unscientifically ignoring public interest. The flyover should have been extended up to Maramma Circle on one side and till the Govardhan theatre on the other to solve the traffic problem,” says a police constable in the area.

In his view provision should have been made for pedestrians at the junction to help them reach Triveni road. “The flyover is an example of poor planning and poor execution of work. Work has been going on at snail’s pace inconveniencing both the police and the public,” he adds.

Yeshwanthpur traffic inspector Ravi Kumar says the contractor has been requested to expedite the work and to repair the road for the convenience of vehicles using this stretch.
