Traffic police clueless

Traffic police clueless

While the north-eastern parts of the city stood gridlocked for hours, the traffic police were clueless.
Though the police had scheduled vehicular movement well before the rally to ease traffic, the attempt proved futile on Monday. Earlier, the police had scheduled six routes for vehicles coming from Tumkur Road, Bellary Road, Kolar Road, Hosur Road, Kanakapura Road and Mysore Road. But though the schedule was announced, commuters travelling in the north-eastern parts had to undergo Monday’s ordeal.
No traffic police official was available for comment about the traffic situation. But an SMS was sent as late as 7.45 pm to citizens from the additional commissioner of police, traffic, asking commuters to avoid Mehkri Circle and to use the Ring Road to reach the airport.
The traffic jam was triggered due to the political parties’ tendency to display their might. Though we had put in place diversions for vehicles coming into the rally, the huge number of vehicles which arrived in the city on Monday slowed down regular traffic. We are trying our best to ease the situation.
