Hennur road in bad shape

Hennur road in bad shape
DH News Service, Bangalore:

Its a Herculean task to ply on Hennur main road. The Hennur main road can well be dubbed as a road to death where boulders, pot-holes and construction materials spread on the road create a perfect recipe for accidents.

Located in front of the Hennur Road Police Station and R&S Woodside Apartment, BBMP has been meting out the same treatment to this road that it has accorded to most other damaged roads - utter apathy. Many representations by residents of the area and road users have fallen on deaf ears. Residents of the area claim that the rate of accidents on this road alone, is as high as six to seven per week.

The road widening work, apart from taking its own sweet time, has added more to the troubles of the residents. Piling up of boulders and sand along the side of widened stretch has been hindering smooth flow of traffic. The situation turns worse after a shower as all the sand make way to the road increasing chances of skidding for motorists. Barring two, none of the streetlights on the road light up.

K J Ashok, a real estate consultant and a social worker, said, “It is high time for BBMP authorities to take up repair works. Even after repeated complaints the authorities are yet to act.”
