Politicians, BDA to be blamed

Politicians, BDA to be blamed
Bangalore, DHNS:
Over 570 residents of Amarajyothi Layout, Domlur have been running from pillar to post to get illegal occupants vacated.

One of the dwellers, who drives auto rickshaw for a living said, “I came here two months ago, and we pay monthly rent. One of the families from our native place directed and helped us to occupy this place. There are around 60 houses and almost all of us have voter identity cards. A local leader residing in the adjacent area is very helpful and has promised to get us water and electricity connections, shortly.”

A senior citizen pointing fingers at the adjoining huge concrete structures where IT firms are housed said, “BDA has to be blamed for this situation. They should not have approved the layout without proper infrastructure. The society bribed the BDA officials and got sanctions. All sorts of activities go on right under our nose and we are forced to keep mum.”

Many NRIs are tight lipped and each one is trying to pull strings and are hoping to get them vacated.

“We were taken for a ride. I invested huge sum on the land and at the time of buying, they said, these (slum) are construction/road workers and they will vanish after completion of the road works. Last time, I visited India and met many officials, but nothing has happened. Only the illegal houses have increased. I can’t understand the logic of our politicians backing illegal occupants for sheer votes,” said one of the NRI on condition of anonymity.
