The sudden downpour on Thursday, cooled the City with 16.5 mm rainfall towards evening. The surprise rain showers were caused due to the trough created in the North Interior Karnataka which would pass down to Gulf Of Mannar said Meteorological Department official.


Explaining the reason for the sudden rainfall, Meteorological Department Official said, “Trough is a system which is created due to atmospheric pressure differences. The differences influence the weather features including the formation of clouds and subsequent precipitation. In Thursday’s case, the trough has occurred in North Interior Karnataka Region which will go up to Gulf of Mannar”.

The condition with high moderately high temperature in the noon followed by light rain towards the evening will prevail on Friday as well added the Met Department Official.
