Roads were blocked and commuters stuck after a heavy downpour on Sunday afternoon.
The area near Mekhri Circle was severely affected and commuters to the airport were stranded on a waterlogged Bellary Road for more than an hour.

Vehicular movement was painfully slow at many other busy junctions in the city. “There was heavy traffic near the Mekhri Circle underpass in the afternoon, but the situation eased up towards evening,” a city traffic police officer told Deccan Chronicle.

Waterlogging near Mekhri Circle caused a huge traffic jam and pedestrians struggled to make their way through the roads in the area on Sunday.

“The road was congested because it was Sunday and there were more vehicles plying to the airport. Twowheeler riders parked their vehicles on the side of the road to get out of the heavy rain, causing traffic snarls at various places,” said a commuter, Narendra Sahay.

The traffic ACP said that not much of traffic problems were faced in east zone. “The traffic problem could have been worse if its was a weekday. Since it was Sunday, only a few of roads were affected,” said ACP east (traffic) Srinivas Murthy. However, residents in east zone had a different experience to share. “The Mosque Road bridge is always congested with traffic. During weekends, the situation is worse. Today there was not a single cop to control traffic at the junction in Frazer Town. Heavy rain added to the traffic problem in the afternoon,” said William D’Souza, a resident of Cox Town. K.H. Road and J.C. Road were also affected due of the rain.

The roads were waterlogged and traffic movement was obstructed.

Commuters on Sarjapur Road were stranded for more than hour because of waterlogging in several places. “Sarjapur Road is in bad shape and every shower inevitably leads to waterlogging on the road. “There are no traffic cops to man the road,” said Harsha S.G., a resident of Kormangala.
