BANGALORE: All hurdles have been cleared for the Peripheral Ring Road (PRR) of the controversial Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project.

On Tuesday, the Karnataka cabinet cleared the grant of 102 acres of land to the project at three places along the PRR.

"The decision has been taken in deference to the High Court and Supreme Court orders and demand from the general public for the speedy completion of the PRR and link roads, which were in limbo following the non-availability of land," home minister V S Acharya said after a cabinet meeting.

The government has also shelved the probe by the Justice B C Patel Commission of Inquiry into the irregularities in the granting huge tracts of land for the BMIC project.

The probe had been reduced into a non-affair in the light of the fact that the issue was before the Supreme Court and its verdict would be final. Justice Patel also had expressed his inability to take up the assignment citing other engagements, Acharya added.
