BMIC to get 102 acres

BMIC to get 102 acres
Bangalore, DHNS:
The state government has given its assent to grant 102 acres of land to Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor project.

Home minister V S Acharya said, the land is meant for filling up gaps along the peripheral ring road constructed as part of the BMIC project.

The land to be given for Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises is spread over several villages on Kanakapura Road, Mysore Road, Magadi Road and areas along BDA outer ring road. “The land to be handed over is part of the original plan of the project”, he added.

NICE Managing Director Ashok Kheny said “We have constructed peripheral ring road wherever we were allotted land. At certain points we could not link roads because of non-availability of land. What we are getting now is notified for the project. For political reasons we could not get it early, but the present government has agreed to allot the same”.

Commission
The government has terminated the Justice B C Patel commission set up during the previous government to conduct an inquiry into allegations on allotment of excess land to NICE. Acharya said “The issue is before the Supreme Court and therefore there is no necessity to continue with the Commission. Besides Justice Patel himself has asked the government to relieve him from the job as he has some other responsibility in New Delhi”.

Traffic Management
The state cabinet sanctioned to release Rs 254 crore towards Traffic Transit Management System in Bangalore city. The project worth Rs 3,000 crore has been taken up under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.

The project cost will be shared by the State government, the Centre and the local body. Acharya said that the cabinet has approved first instalment of its share of Rs 254 crore towards the project.
