Bangalore: Jackets are out of the cupboards. While sipping that hot cup of coffee in the mornings, you would have noticed that Bangalore is getting chillier.
Or for that matter, the evenings and nights are also cool. But the city may have another bout of heavy spell of rain before the monsoon bids a farewell.
According to meteorological department director A Muthuchami, the city will continue to receive normal rainfall with increase in the frequency and quantity of rain in the concluding period of the south-west monsoon in the last week of September.
And the interval is not going to be longer as it also coincides with the onset of the north-east monsoon.
Over the last one week, Bangalore has become colder with a dip in minimum temperature.
Mornings are cold, noons slightly warmer and evenings are pleasant. Temperature has been about 19 degree C or varying between 20 and 21 degree C.
And agro-meteorology department’s Prof Raje Gowda explains that the low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal has been attracting strong winds from the Arabian Ocean. Hence, most of the regions in the state are experiencing strong winds and less rainfall.
From September 20, heavy rainfall is expected to flood Bangalore again, after the record rain of 300 mm in August, the meteorological department has predicted.
As per the Met department, in the month of September, city is expected to receive an average rainfall of 194.8 mm, and so far it has received 139 mm rain.
Just to caution Bangaloreans, North-east monsoon season is associated with cyclones and heavy rainfall will continue till the last week of November, with the onset of winter.
Till then, umbrellas and raincoats will continue to be in use.
