In a change from the recent past, the weather in Bengaluru has been salubrious and pleasant with just the occasional light drizzle. After some parts of the city were marooned and the city battered by showers for over a week, people are enjoying the weather, taking rides or strolling down the streets.

The short spells of rain have led to no serious complaints about any damage to property or uprooting of trees, said sources in the BBMP control room.

People can enjoy the pleasant weather for a few more days with upper air circulation over the Bay of Bengal near south Orissa and the Andhra Pradesh coast contributing to the conditions.

Indian Metrological Department metrologist B. Puttanna said, “There might be a low pressure formation in that area because of which the city might have light rain for a few more days.” He explained that this condition is responsible for the windy weather that the city has had for the past few days.

“The windier it gets, the greater the chances of rain,” Mr Puttanna said, adding that atmospheric conditions are favourable for a “revival of monsoon” over the state.

“Surface winds are likely to get stronger in the next few days and many parts of the state might have increased rainfall in the next few days,” he added.

“The temperature is moderate with light breeze making it very pleasant. The weather reminds me of the city in the early nineties. Bengaluru was then known as the air-conditioned city,” said Sudhakar Nair, a resident of Koramangala.
