Namma Metro will be ready by 2010: CM

The first phase work on the Namma Metro nine-kilometre line connecting Byappanahalli and MG Road will be completed by 2010, Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa announced here on Thursday. The remaining work would be completed by September 2012, three months ahead of schedule.

After reviewing the progress of Metro work in Bangalore, he said that the land acquisition process for the first phase had been completed. There were no more hurdles to go ahead with the work.

The CM said he had also asked the BMRCL authorities to come out with a proposal for metro rail connection between Byappanahalli and Bengaluru International Airport.

The BMRCL Board approved the designs and estimates for the following stations: Reach 2 (City Railway Station to Mysore Road): Stations - Toll Gate (Rs 33.55 crore), Hosahalli (Rs 33.24 crore) and Vijayanagar (Rs 34.46 crore).
Reach 3 (Yeshwanthpur to Swastik): Stations - Yeshwanthpur (Rs 37.90 crore), Soap Factory (Rs 42.52 crore) and Mahalakshmi Layout (Rs 36.79 crore).

Reach 4 (City Market to RV Road): Stations - Jayanagar (Rs 33.15 crore) and RV Road Terminal (Rs 34.36 crore).
