ENCROACHMENTS ON TANKS WILL BE CLEARED: MINISTER

The State government will issue an order regarding removal of encroachments on the tanks in the City within a week, according to Minister for Minor Irrigation Govind Karjol.

Speaking to media persons after the first meeting of the Co-ordination Committee for Protection of Tanks on Thursday, Karjol said surveys have shown that encroachments have taken place on 50 of the 72 tanks in the City limits. “Soon we will take steps to remove the encroachments”. he added. The Committee, headed by Secretary to the Department of Minor Irrigation, comprises secretaries to the Departments of Revenue, Finance, Forests, Environment and Ecology besides the Commissioners of Bangalore Development Authority, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagar Palike etc as members.
