Clear SWD encroachments, orders CM
DH News Service, Bangalore:
Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has recently decreed the clearing up of encroachments on all stormwater drains in the catchment areas of Bangalore, said Aswath Narayan, Malleswaram MLA on Monday.

Briefing newspersons on the sidelines of a function organised by the Bangalore Water Board Engineers Association to mark the birthday celebrations of Sir M Visvesvaraya at the BWSSB premises at Malleswaram, Narayan said that the encroachments prevented the smooth flow of water to the Hesarghatta tank, Yelahanka Tank, Hebbal Lake and Thippegondanahalli. Such an order had been issued in the gazette five years ago but not been implemented.

“The Chief Minister told a meeting of legislators a month ago to take urgent steps in this connection,” he added.
Narayan said that Aramane Nagar (ward no 99) had been declared as a model ward in the area and a sum of Rs 5 crore had been allotted for civic infrastructure.

“I am very keen on making rain water harvesting and water recycling mandatory in my area,” he said. Sanjaynagar in Hebbal has also been declared a model ward and Rs 20 crore had been allotted to improve the area, he added.
