Cabinet nod to shift turf club

As announced in the Legislative Assembly, the State cabinet, on Thursday, decided to shift Bangalore Turf Club (Race Course) located in the centre of the City to the outskirts. Minister Shobha Karandlaje speaking to media said the government has not yet identified an alternative land for the BTC. The club management has also agreed to move out of the City. “The government will use the land for construction of a complex and keep rest of the place as lung space”, she said. The issue of shifting Race Course was debeated in the last Legislature Session.

Congress MLA Roshan Baig raising the issue in the Legislative Assembly had demanded that the State should shift the club.
