Even as the traders on Chinmaya Mission Hospital Road knock at the court’s door for a stay on Metro work on the busy commercial avenue in Indiranagar, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation has released a comprehensive map of possible traffic diversions once the work on the stretch begins. The map which still awaits the approval from the traffic police is said to have been chalked out after meetings between various civic agencies, public transport agencies and traffic engineers.

“To facilitate construction of the Metro on CMH Road, the work area needs to be barri caded. Vehicular diversion is planned after consultation with and approval from traffic police and BMTC officials,” a Metro official told Deccan Chronicle.

The diversions are expected to be enforced by next week and the authorities are busy looking for open spaces to create areas for parking.

In the first alternate route, vehicular movement from the Minsk Square approaching Manipal Centre will be redirected to Ulsoor Road, on to Murphy Road, 80-feet Road junction or 100-feet Road towards Indiranagar or CMH Road and surrounding areas.

In the second route, traffic from MG Road approaching Trinity Circle will be redirect ed to Trinity Church Road, and the old Airport Road flyover loop to Indiranagar and 100feet Road towards CMH Road.

The traffic police has already made it clear that parking will not be allowed on CMH Road and on its crossroads. A 1 km stretch between CMH Road at the 100-feet Road junction and Adarsha theatre is expected to be barricaded once the Metro work starts.

“Metro authorities had told us that the work would only be in the night, but we have received no confirmation about this so far. Its not a question of few days or months.

The work will go on for years,” pointed out CMH Road Traders Association president Imtiaz Ahmed.
