Residents of Hebbal look Ahead
RWAs And Civic Agencies Hold Brainstorming Session On Problems

Bangalore: Very soon, Hebbal may see a new phase of development with lesser complaints and more scope for cooperation between people and civic officials. The inaugural workshop on Agenda for Hebbal Development (Ahead) here on Saturday seems to have worked in favour of residents of this constituency.
The half-day brainstorming session between members of various resident welfare associations and service providers from BBMP, BWSSB, Bescom, BMTC, TPBC and KSP addressed the long-pending civic woes of residents.
Issues like bad connectivity, irregular water supply, slanted electric poles, improper garbage disposal, traffic bottlenecks, lack of proper parks, playgrounds and libraries along with increasing stray dog menace topped the agenda. Further, it also helped chart out the redressal mechanism.
With the allocated fund for area development being 18 times more than last year and just eight months left for its effective utilization, Hebbal constituency MLA and state minister Katta Subramanya Naidu cautioned officials to speed up efforts and complete planned work on time.
There will be discussions with the government about increasing sanctionary powers of the BBMP commissioner, he said. He also called for more transparency with records of progress and expenditure of funds being made available to the people.
Calling upon Ahead, an interactive citizen’s workshop for developing a blue print for development of Hebbal, he asked people to rise above their selfish needs.
He called for one such meet every three months in all his 14 constituencies. Very soon, Hebbal will have a website where people will be able to keep in touch with their MLA, he said.
Nearly 1,000 citizens, including members of 35 resident welfare associations, attended the workshop, jointly organized by the Advanced research institute and Katta foundations, at Taralabalu Kendra institute in RT Nagar.
HIGH ON THE AGENDA
Prioritize water supply, sanitary conditions Widen and asphalt roads and repair footpaths Develop new parks and complete pending work on few others Laying of water and sewage lines should be scientifically addressed New libraries and playgrounds for residents COMPLAINT BOX
Many parks in the constituency are like cows that don’t milch Erratic late-night water supply has left most of us with very little sleep and peace I have many complaints listed but being very aged, my only request is to see at least all the main and interior roads repaired and well-connected before I leave this world Most officials give their mobile number but keep phones switched off all the time Roads built in the 80s are well-maintained but very little can be said about those in 2008
