BBMP razes structures to widen road
Bangalore, DHNS:
In an effort to reduce chaotic traffic near Basaveshwara Circle, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) has razed the wall and other structures close to Chalukya Hotel on Saturday night.

According to the BBMP sources, there had been an intense traffic burden on Basaveshwara Circle, and the road was quite narrow, particularly near the Chalukya Hotel.

On Saturday night the boundary along the Chalukya Hotel was razed. Around 46 metres of area has been razed to use it for the road widening work, sources said.

The clearing of the debris was paralysed on Sunday because of snag in the digging machine. By Monday evening all the debris would be cleared and then the road widening work would start, the sources said.

For the last few months the road widening work is going on along the Race Course Road. Recently structures near the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan were also demolished to widen the road. Meanwhile, the authorities razed nearly 90 illegal shops near Russell Market.
